Made this, this past weekend & it was AMAZING. A total crowd pleaser!
The entire fam loved it. This recipe is improvised from @ambitiouskitchen.
- For the topping:
- 1/3 cup oat flour
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/3 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 cup grass fed butter or coconut oil
- For the crisp:
- 5 medium honeycrisp apples- cored and thinly sliced (can peel if desired)
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
- 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease an 8x8 baking pan.
To make topping: Combine oat flour, oats, coconut sugar, cinnamon, sea salt and pecans in a large bowl until well-combined. Add in melted butter OR coconut oil and use your hands to combine until the mixture becomes crumbly and moist. Once finished, place topping in the fridge.
To make the filling: Place sliced apples, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla in a large bowl and toss to combine. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.
Take 1/3 cup of the topping mixture and toss with the apple filling mixture. Place the apple filling mixture in prepared pan and sprinkle evenly with topping.
Bake the crisp for 50-60 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling. Remove from oven and cool.
Serve warm with coconut whip or yogurt or ice cream. (Makes 9 servings).
